Into the Wild – Costa Rica Retreat

13th February – 21st February 2020

After an incredible recce trip to Costa Rica in December and much planning, booking is open! 16 places on offer….

Immerse yourself in the magical wild nature of Costa Rica, and be refreshed and inspired by daily meditation and movement practice. Find a slower rhythm to your day, tap into the uplifting energy of living in nature, wake to the call of howler monkeys, and practice yoga on an open deck visited by hummingbirds, butterflies and macaws.

Navina offers a unique wild nature experience with all the creature comforts you need.

I am running this retreat with my friend and fellow yoga teacher Justine Rowan. www.rowanyoga.com

We’ll be enjoying yoga in a friendly, relaxed community – focus on feeling good in your body and stretching your own parameters of what it means to thrive in your life.

The Yoga

We blend functional strength and mobility focused movements into a mindful yoga flow. Our teaching style is relaxed and collaborative, encouraging you to explore what works best for you, with plenty of movement options to play with, always lending our support and guidance.

This is an opportunity for you to further cultivate your own yoga practice, ensuring it is both physically sustainable and progressive, and something which supports you in all aspects of your life and for everything you want to do.

We also give time every day to restorative, calming and rejuvenating practices, helping to tap into the body’s natural relaxation response. Something we’ll be doing throughout the more restorative practices is asking you to collectively listen and respond to the cues your body gives, especially as it relates to deep rest and deeper intuitive listening in the body.

The Retreat Environment

We love how retreats bring people together and create connections, friendship and community in a refreshingly easy way. This valuable time for sharing, eating good food together and being wowed by the nature all around is a part of the experience we offer.

Navina provides us with a magical place to do this in the safe hands of Drew Hume and his team. Drew has built the yoga platform overlooking a natural bowl in the landscape overlooking the rain-forested hillside. It’s an incredible place to do yoga. Hawks swoop by, hummingbirds buzz and butterflies flutter and that’s before the squirrel monkeys show up. Accommodation is on tented wooden platforms- with real beds and shared shower/bathroom facilities.

And of Course, the Food

The Navina menu is fantastic – varied, freshly prepared vegetarian food – 3 meals a day plus 2 snacks, fresh water from their own fresh water spring, tea and coffee available all day. Much of the produce is home grown at Navina, right next to the dining area!

Morning sessions include:

  • Meditation – accessible and varied techniques
  • Mindful flow yoga – a combination of functional movement and yoga postures (2 levels offered)

Afternoon sessions:

  • Movement workshops to focus in more detail on certain aspects of both the yoga practice and of the body.
  • Deep relaxation with gentle rhythmic yoga  and restorative yoga.

Included in the package:

Three fresh meals per day

We recommend an overnight stay at the Adventure Inn near San Jose airport (15 mins free shuttle) on arrival and setting off for Navina after a good night’s sleep. Depending on flight times, it is a good place to stop over on the way home too. It has a pool with sun loungers, restaurant and very comfortable en-suite rooms.

It is about a 4 hour drive from San Jose to Navina. A minibus arranged by the Adventure Inn will be one option. Or, it is a short 35min flight from San Jose to nearby Palmar Sur airport with a car pick from there to Navina included. Approx $130 per way. further details at costarica.navina.ca

From the UK-  there are DIRECT flights from Gatwick to San Jose via British Airways! Book really early and the prices are as low as £400.
